To use the chart, find the estimated wind speed in the top row and the actual temperature in degrees F in the left column.
The equivalent temperature is found where these two intersect.

For example, with a wind speed of 10 miles per hour and a temperature and -10 degrees F,
the equivalent temperature is -33 degrees F. Wind speeds greater than 40 miles per hour have little additional effect.

STUDY the WIND CHILL FACTOR CHART -- Watch out for numbness and grayish or yellow-white spots on your skin and buddy's too!
Warm up fast, but DO NOT rub. FROSTBITE IS EASIER TO PREVENT THAN TO CURE!
To neglect FROSTBITE is to invite gangrene.

COLD + WET + WIND = HYPOTHERMIA and DEATH !

Chewing gum and making faces will keep face muscles moving. Heat comes from FOOD, Sun, and CAMPFIRE.
Continually brush snow off, especially before going near fires.
Water conducts heat or cold 240 times faster than still air !

STAY DRY !! Don't touch cold metal with lips or bare hands, it may cost you some skin and pain.
If you fall in the water, roll in snow IMMEDIATELY ! Snow will absorb water. Brush off. Repeat.
Find shelter, heat and dry clothes.
Better yet stay off ice less than 3 inches thick. A crowd needs 4 inches thick ice.
